@@KevinChee That's a good question. I'd say it usually depends on the channel, but in regards to the topics you cover, I think most people would be willing to accept a degree of diversity. I'm interested in UA-cam topics, but I'd also be willing to hear what you have to say about investment, life planning and your general philosophy about life.

Hey Mark. Great stuff. Yeah, I can't work out why the audio is off and on in different videos. It is quite a bummer. Have you considered getting a shotgun mic? Those are pretty good if it can be attached to your camera.

Do you use more than one microphone within the same video? I've noticed that when I use two mics for voiceovers in a single video, the audio tends to become quite difficult to control. Btw, I've learned something from your review. Keep up your good work :)

Hi Kevin. I use exclusively iPad and iPhones to record all my videos and b-roll. I noticed a little while ago that my audio was coming out ‘crackly’ and so had to use quite heavy noise reduction to sort the problem. This took quite a while to get to the bottom of and I believe it’s something to do with the connection of one of the phones when used with wireless microphones. This experimenting may account for the up and down nature of the volume. I’ve just recently started to record the sound independently using a DJI mic and syncing later. This seems to have resolved the ‘crackling’ issue. You also mention in the video that it may be the editing program I use - which in my case is LumaFusion - not handling the sound well. This deserves further investigation and I will check the levels using the service you mention. I may look at getting a shotgun mic to release me from the ‘saggy T-shirt mic’ look! Thanks again.

@@mark_kelly Hi Mark, one of the main points I gathered from the review is the importance of being very specific about the big idea of each video. It needs to align with the overall package, including the thumbnail, title, and illustration. However, sometimes when we are so focused, we might overlook how others might perceive it. By the way, I'm impressed with the your video quality; I was surprised that they are filmed with an iPhone/ iPad. Kevin was right that good lighting makes a big difference. Also, you have many views for lots of videos. All the best with your channel. :)

Also, some programs have nice auto-levellers. Davinci Resolve has a nice feature that lets you "Normalize Audio" and there is a youtube pre-set.

I just let Levelator run through my audio file and it works 100% of the time

@@KevinChee It's a good direction IMO. Better than generic advice that may or may not apply to anyone in particular (not that you did a ton of that before, but it's super common in the UA-cam training space as you know)

@@EritsStudio ah right. To be fair to your friends and family, they probably can't chime in their thoughts if they aren't content creators themselves. I reckon it is better to hear them say it is good rather than be given unsolicited advice. Probably just me, it is also 1 of the reason why I don't have them watch my videos

Consider editing your @ name. Then every time you comment, people will see RaydawgGeocache or GeocacheRaydawg. Then go around commenting on related channels. Just an experiment.

If you've signed up this month then you wouldn't have received the 2nd round submission email. I'm still going through the first round (which has a lot of submission) but the email only went out to those who signed up beforehand. Keep an eye out though, I might send out 2nd round a lot earlier although it may still take me a fair bit of time to go through them.

I dislike stock footage and AI voices and AI scripts. I bounce and I never return. Meanwhile I watch fully the videos of those I subscribe to, I like and comment- basically I’m the ideal person to have as a subscriber. What’s interesting is I find these great vlogs with low view numbers and subs- yet there are lesser quality vlogs ( similar topics and age group) with tens of thousands of views. They blow up overnight. There is another category that I’ve noticed- vlogs of complaining😂. Very popular. Also popular are the reaction channels- not producing any original content, just reacting to whatever is trending on TikTok . If you want views, that’s the way to go. I think we work too hard, guys. If someone doesn’t like the topic of one of my videos ( books, for example), please don’t click. I love responding to people’s thoughts on something intriguing I found in a book. I don’t exactly know why I watch this channel- I don’t think I’ll ever have an income from doing videos. But I like sharing the channel with people who do want that income possibility. And I like you and want to encourage you, Mr Creator. I’m considering a Substack account. A way to share thoughts without worrying about speaking. I backed up on Rum ble because cen sor ship is increasing. I was blocked for 24 hours and no explanation given. I have no idea what caused it. So this work of years can disappear overnight. I wonder how many people are holding back their thoughts because they don’t want to lose their investment.

It is very subjective this one. For e.g., this video, gets lots of engagement, comments, feels a lot more like a community, however, this type of video doesn't get much traction or views. It is really for the subscribers and doesn't help much in growing the channel. I get a lot of comments with different view points from viewers, sometimes it even confuses me lol

You have a good channel. I think you have grown pretty quickly. The thumbnails are engaging and bright, good hooks. Armchair travelers will like it or anyone who wants to tour there.

The beginning is always the hardest. It is quite a steep learning curve.

I'm not an expert in gaming channels but I would say you are in a competitive niche. I don't have a definite answer to be honest. To me, the ones that truly shines are those who does livestreams, with a little box showing them playing, mixed with exaggerated laughter and over the top shouting. I don't watch those kind of videos but that's what I gathered.

Probably our way of talking is similar and UA-cam sort of detects the audience are roughly the same. I don't know, only the UA-cam alogrithm knows. Also, I'm not Korean. 🙂

@@TrishaSmith Yeah, I've watched him a little. He is pretty random but I admire the fact that he just post whatever he wants to share with little to no editing, yet, still get great views. I'm still a long way to go from not being bothered by views.

You are yourself and you don’t come across like the big corporations obviously or big business. Just keep it from red lining. Just below is fine. Viewer can always turn down the volume but they can only turn it up so loud.

In Davinci Resolve, I use a feature called "Audio Normalization". When I am done editing my video, I just select the entire soundtrack and choose "Normalize Audio Levels". There is a UA-cam preset that works pretty well.

@@WaywardZombie Hello! Mark from the Spark here 😆 Kevin mentioned the audio levels being an issue for me and he’s correct. Just wanted to comment here as I do try to make sure nothing is redlining and most of the time I try to keep it just below. Could be the app I’m using that isn’t giving me good info?

@@mark_kelly I use capcut pro. Loudness normalization feature works well. I usually have to raise the dB a little after. Normalization gets rid of the peaks and valleys. They also have a noise reduction feature which may be good for talking head.

Trendy niche still exist, just not UA-cam niche. Trends come and go as it always does.

@@KevinChee right. Just coaches are not searched a lot after the pandemic 'cause it's over saturared. The algorithm follows the audience. The extra-push to new channels are just for the first video, like tiktok does.
